As an active portrait artist and instructor, I have the lovely opportunity to travel to my work. Italy and Switzerland, where I spent part of my youth and teach even today, my beautiful North Carolina from the mountains to the coast, all around the US to create portraits or instruct painting workshops and speak...everywhere I go, I bring back these experiences through sketches and small color studies.
My studio storage nooks and shelves are full now of these small images that I promise myself "I will get back to..." Over the years, certain ones of these images have become some of my largest, most popular, and in some cases, award winning paintings.
